Welcome to Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

We are the first class of the juniors and are relishing the challenge of making the move from the infant classes. There are 30 of us (along with 2 teachers and a teaching assistant!) and together we work as a team – striving to always be the best version of ourselves we can be!

We love to learn and in particular enjoy our topic work which this year takes us to Ancient Egypt and the theatres of the West End to name a few!

We all have different talents and interests, and that is what makes us unique and special we learn from our teachers as well as from each other, and make sure we approach each task with a smile on our faces.

Please feel free to come and visit us at any time and we promise to give you a very warm welcome!

Mrs Allen and Miss Phillips Welcome you to Maple Class

Spring 1 Learning Menu

Extreme Earth term 2a

We start the new year with a great topic on Our Earth and includes learning and investigating rocks, fossils, earthquakes, volcanoes and extreme weather. We will also learn about fracking and have debates on whether we are for or against it!

Our English topic will follow the book by Jules Verne, ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’ and the children are loving the adventure!

Walk Like An Egyptian!

This term we are learning all about Ancient Egypt. We have made a great start by learning about The River Nile and its uses. Thank you to those children who have already brought lots of things in from home. It’s been fabulous to use these resources!

Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on how mummies were created, hieroglyphs, pharaohs especially Tutankhamun and farming.

Maple’s Class Assembly

To celebrate our focus on Legends we are busy rehearsing for our Class Assembly and would love you to join us on Wednesday 10th October 9.15am.

The assembly will be filled with poems, stories and songs. Join us as we take you on a journey through Sherwood Forest to learn about the legend of Robin Hood.
